With the ever increasing demands to reduce cost and increase functionality and control, organisations are looking to Client Virtualisation as one of the main routes to 'squaring the circle'. Add in the rapid growth in remote working with the increasing focus on moving technology into the data centre, and Client Virtualisation is at the top of every IT agenda. Done well, Client Virtualisation provides for better data security, easier management, more flexibility for the end user and allows IT to cost-effectively deliver a desktop tailored to each user. The challenge is in doing it well, doing it cost effectively and delivering on both of these objectives the first time. Does this mean that the traditional desktop model "potentially insecure, inflexible, and hard-to-manage" is a thing of the past? If Client Virtualisation is done well, why have we not all done it already?
