    Marcus East is a successful international business executive with over 15 years experience, specialising in information technology, new media and social enterprise; he is Comic Relief’s CIO / Head of Future Media & Technology.

    He has an honours degree in Management & Information Technology from London Guildhall and a master’s degree in Social Enterprise from Cambridge University where he is a member of Wolfson College. He is also a full member of the Chartered Management Institute.
    Marcus started his career with IBM where he spent six years honing his consulting and professional business skills, before joining Omnicom’s AGENCY.COM where he was Vice President of Business Development for the UK & Ireland.
    Since then, he has been an executive for a number of companies, and is now Comic Relief’s Chief Technologist. In this role, he is responsible for all of Comic Relief’s technology and the teams that manage all of the charity’s technological needs covering Digital Production, Donations & Web Technology, Enterprise Platforms and IT / Network Operations.
    Prior to joining Comic Relief, some of the highlights of his career include being:
    • Chief Executive Officer: thememory.com – worked with Peter Gabriel on an innovative social media business;
    • Executive Chairman: Visit4 – a leading provider of online advertising services for consumers and professionals;
    • Trustee & Treasurer: MyBnk – an award winning charity that works to improve young people’s financial management and enterprise skills;
    • Chief Executive Officer: Breathe – one of the UK’s oldest and best known Internet Service Providers (ISPs);
    • Managing Director: Inspired Broadcast – a leading provider of technology-based entertainment solutions;
    • Vice President, Business Development: AGENCY.COM (Omnicom) – one of the world’s leading interactive consulting agencies, working with major clients like British Airways, Disney, Gucci & Heineken;
    • Global Client Manager: IBM Corporation – the world’s largest technology company, where Marcus started in the UK Public Sector business as a consulting for government and defence clients.

    Marcus was born in North London, and has lived there for all of his life. He was educated at the following places:

    • London Metropolitan University – Bachelor’s with Honours in Management & IT
