360°IT Reveals Editor of New IT Infrastructure Blog

London, 10th February 2010 - Jim Mortleman has been appointed as Editor of the new 360°IT blog. A passionate advocate on the potential of new technology and the internet’s positive role in transforming organisations and society, Jim will provide his own unique and unbiased take on the news leading up to 360°IT - The IT Infrastructure Event, taking place on 22nd - 23rd September 2010 at Earls Court, London. Jim is ever mindful of the need to cut through industry hype, business jargon and blinkered techno-scepticism. His experience has given him an in-depth understanding of the operational and leadership challenges facing different types of organisations, and the ability to distil and communicate these with clarity and precision for a variety of audiences.

The 360°IT blog will provide the IT industry with a new platform to read inspiring articles and engage in open, honest and genuine conversations with one another. The blog will also be supported by a Twitter and LinkedIn group.

Jim Mortleman comments that the 360°IT blog will provide a new dimension to the IT infrastructure event. “I think that the 360°IT blog should interpret the definition of 360°IT, looking at IT in the round from all angles - technology, business strategy, supplier-customer relationships, licensing and contractual agreements, leadership, communication, organisational structure and culture. Senior IT professionals cannot build effective IT infrastructures without taking the aforementioned issues into consideration.360°IT is about incorporating everything as a whole and moving forward from the isolated vision that infrastructural technologies held in the past. Jim will address the problems and challenges that are currently facing IT professionals, who are responsible for the management and development of flexible, secure and dynamic IT infrastructures that deliver competitive advantage and enhance business value.

The main aim of the 360°IT blog is to foster greater mutual understanding and promote healthier, more effective business relationships and partnerships.

“The 360°IT blog will reflect the fact that businesses can no longer consider elements of their IT infrastructure in isolation. The old silos are crumbling. Suppliers and customers need to work together to build a new, collaborative approach to specifying and implementing flexible IT architectures that support business effectively in the 21st century. The blog and associated social networking activity will aim to promote an honest, productive and at times challenging conversation on the best way forward,” said Jim Mortleman.

Jim Mortleman has almost two decades' experience researching and covering developments in information technology and their implications for business and society. He has written for The Guardian, Computer Weekly, Computing and Silicon.com and for the last six years he has combined journalism with content development, business writing and blogging for private clients such as IT leaders' forum CIO Connect, executive IT recruitment firm La Fosse Associates, Steria, Fujitsu and Computacenter.

Jim will engage well with the 360°IT audience as he is also a long-time user of technologies, such as social networking tools and online productivity applications. He is a strong supporter of future developments in the technology industry Jim has contributed to the web since its inception and been an active Twitter user (@jimjar) since May 2007 and his latest blog "The New Game" (http://mortleman.net) explores how collaboration, community and creativity are shaking up traditional organisational models.
