RandomStorm Adds Log Management to Integrated Network Security Management and Compliance Platform

29thth June 2010, Wetherby, UK – RandomStorm the network security specialists has announced the release of a new log management and file integrity monitoring module, StormAgent, to add to its widely deployed Integrated Security and Compliance Management (ISCM) platform.

StormAgent is based on industry standard, open source intrusion detection technology and has been designed to monitor access and changes to system and application log files across the entire corporate infrastructure, alerting network managers whenever unauthorised activity is detected.
Developed in line with the global PCI DSS compliance requirements StormAgent provides system integrity validation for network administrators enabling immediate detection of all file changes, whether malicious, accidental or during new software installation. This includes all changes to the directory structure such as alternate data streams, registries, files security access permissions, services and the contents of files.
Detecting changes to the directory structure enables immediate identification of any unauthorised files including viruses, Trojans, malware and spyware providing an added level of protection alongside traditional anti-virus tools, helping to prevent damaging data leakage incidents and minimising successful exploitation of any network vulnerabilities.
StormAgent can operate as a standalone system or integrated with RandomStorm’s range of LAN, WAN and WLAN security management tools running on the company’s standard iStorm rack mount appliance including StormProbe, an intelligent IDS/vulnerability correlation system and the wireless network monitoring solution, AirStorm, all accessed and controlled via a single management dashboard.
Together the RandomStorm ISCM platform helps to protect the whole corporate network infrastructure, maximising the organisation’s security posture and meeting the regulatory requirements for PCI DSS and the GCSx CoCo compliance frameworks, with minimal intervention needed from the IT support team.
Andrew Mason, RandomStorm’s Chief Security Architect said “It is clear from all the network security professionals we speak to that their main headache is assimilating and filtering the overwhelming amount of incident and event information that is generated across the network on a continuous basis, much of which can be innocuous. Combined with the task of ensuring compliance with increasing file protection regulation this can absorb a disproportional amount of their limited resources. StormAgent has been developed to complement our range of professional security management tools reducing this to a routine background task and freeing up time to ensure critical business applications are fully maintained.” ENDS
