    Seminar Details
The data centre is a major cost base for the majority of organisations. As well as the demands of effectively managing a constantly changing environment, issues related to the data centre facility (managing power, space and cooling) are becoming increasingly important. Much of this complexity is hidden from the business users who benefit from the data centre services, but green initiatives and legislation, uncertainties around energy prices and pressure to drive co-ordinated business approaches during a period of recession are increasingly raising the impact of IT capabilities to the board of directors. Ensuring that a data centre is run at its optimal levels is becoming more important - yet how a data centre's overall capacity is measured, monitored and maintained is often overlooked. During this presentation (backed by market surveys, analyst research and customer case studies), Marina and Rob will outline how the introduction of data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) best practices can deliver significant business value. They will also illustrate how best practice intelligent capacity management processes which track data centre performance, utilisation and energy consumption can transform the delivery of data centre services and at the same time lead to more-efficient, cost-effective and greener environments. Using the Total Value Proposition model discussed, attendees will learn how to build a business case for DCIM that identifies and highlights the specific and tangible organizational benefits.
